Old Independent Church, Haverhill, Suffolk

Hauptwerk v3 Virtual Organ

HW SAMPLE SETS

There are three sample sets based on the the Haverhill Binns organ with a fourth (extended) version planned to be made available in late 2008 or early 2009.

All sets benefit from the following features, designed to maximise realism and quality:

• Every note of every stop has been sampled at a rate of 48kHz and a resolution of 24 bits

• Samples are presented “wet”, ie complete with the natural reverberation of the church (approx 1.5 seconds)

• Multiple releases are employed, with either two or three releases per note for greatly improved realism in staccato passages

• Multiple loops are featured, with almost all samples benefiting from 3 or 4 separate loops

• HW’s models for swell enclosure and tremulant have been accurately programmed, based on samples taken across the compass of each stop

• Blower, stop action and key action noises are also included

At present, the sample sets are only compatible with Hauptwerk version 3. Hauptwerk version 2 will be supported in the future should there be sufficient demand.

EXTENDED SAMPLE SET

An extended sample set is planned - details are not yet finalised, but the idea is to include a Tuba (new samples from another instrument artificially placed into the Haverhill church acoustic) and also a 32 foot pedal reed. Amongst other additions, there will be a re-ordering of the swell and choir upperwork to give the swell a “clean” quint mixture alongside the tierce mixture.
